Exciting News!

First of all, THANK YOU for all the sweet birthday wishes, emails, and phone calls. I had a really lovely day thanks in big part to being remembered and well wished by lots of friends and family. I am kind of the worst at remembering that sort of thing, but I am really going to make an effort to be better because it honestly made such a difference in my day. By the way...I didn't get my boots yet. The ones I thought I wanted were not cute on my legs but then I found another pair that cost 3 times as much that I am trying to justify buying. Then I found a killer deal on some lavender Frye boots but Trav shot them down. I might buy them anyway and bring my purple shoe total up to 4 You can never have too many pair of purple shoes right? I'll keep you posted.

Now....for some exciting news. I am dusting off my french curve and making good on some of those clothing design ideas that float around in my head but I never make time to actually do. I get to be part of this season of Project Run and Play and I am so excited (and also really nervous but mostly excited)!

If you are not familiar with Project Run and Play, its a kids clothing design competition. There are 8 of us designers competing each week for 6 weeks. Each week there is a "challenge" where we create a design around the chosen theme, and each week folks (you!) vote for your favorite looks. The votes are combined with the judges scores, and the lowest scored designer is eliminated ala Project Runway.

I remember watching Katy Dill compete in (and win!) the first season and despite being blown away by her creativvity and talent, all I could think each week was, "Oh boy...how is she pulling all this sewing off??! I could never do that!" And now here I am... and I am going to give it my best try. We do get a little head start so that helps. I've already spent kind of an obscene amount of money on fabric and supplies and have so many ideas that I really hope I get to hang in there long enough to use them.

I am excited to participate with the other girls doing it. My blog friend Kristin is one of them, which makes it more fun (and also more nerve racking because everything she makes is cute). I am mostly looking forward to seeing if I can actually pull off all the ideas I have. I think time management it going to be my biggest problem, so forgive me if I become absent minded, a really inconsiderate friend, and stop answering my phone for the next few months. And expect a lot of groveling for your participation when the voting kicks off (Jan 2nd). Because despite my confidence in my own ability to hang in there with the group, I would be lying if I didn't confess that I feel like the serious underdog (did you see all the crazy talent in that group?)!

Here is the exciting news for you...

This season there is a competition for all of you sewers out there too! You can follow along and sew your little fingers to the bones each week right along with us and compete for what I hear are killer prizes. Fun right? I can't wait to see what you make. I hope you'll play along, and we can be in it together. Make it work people..right?!

OK now seriously I need to start sewing.
