We're Having a BABY!

...Thursday.

In case you didn't know that we're having a baby...since--you know--I never talk about it or anything...we are.

Except instead of happening in a week and half like my "due" date says, we are having it Thursday (unless she decides to come sooner).

Here's the scoop. At my appointment last week my blood pressure was slightly elevated and my face was very puffy and their was some protein in my pee. All those fun things put together equal something called Preeclampsia (you can click on the link if you want to know more about it...otherwise I won't bore you with the details), which happens to some women late in pregnancy...and basically if there is something that can happen...it's going to happen to me. So I was ordered on bedrest (in case you have been wondering where I have been) where I have been in between lots of doctors appointments, and one trip to the hospital (because I was sure the baby stopped moving...she didn't, I'm just paranoid). So all the labs and tests tell me the baby is fine still, but so as to not tempt fate, my doctor is inducing me on Thursday.

Kind of anticlimactic to know ahead of time when your baby will be born, but totally insignificant when compared to their health and safety. And Preeclampsia is not anything to mess around with. Mine is very mild, which is why we are waiting till Thursday. But we are excited and can't wait to meet our little girl! And no we haven't decided on a name yet. Don't worry, we have some ideas.

We'll keep you posted!

  1. hooray hooray hooray! I loved being induced with Lucy. It was a great delivery. I will be thinking of you and sending you all my best wishes on Thursday. And I just can't wait to see her and hear all about it. I am hoping for a full play by play on the delivery! Good luck.

  3. what?! crazy!!! YAY!!!! i am so excited for you! i know that feeling though--I went in for a 39-week check and the doctor scheduled me for an induction at 7 am the next day. but anyway, yay! i will pray for you to have a marvelous delivery. :-) my second induction went really well, and i think i'll choose to be induced again (the first induction was not good, but I don't think the doctor was as good, plus it was 2 weeks later gestationally and things were just way past overdue).

  4. Hi, you don't know me, but I am a friend of Corinne's and I check your blog all the time. Just wanted to say that I was in the exact same situation a year ago with the birth of our first baby. He was born 10 days early due to mild pre-eclampsia. It wasn't fun giving birth while on Mag Sulfate, but he was born healthy and happy. :) Congratulations! I am due (with our second) on the 10th of may.

  9. How exciting! I mean, I don't know that being induced would be ideal, but my other friend said that not knowing when the baby will come is like being a walking time bomb in the final weeks. So, it seems that being induced would have some benefits--that's one less unknown you have to worry about. Anyway, I can't wait to see your baby and find out what you name her! I hope it goes smoothly, I'll be thinking of you!

  12. I was wondering about you just this morning... i was wondering if that baby had come and then you commented on my blog so I assumed no baby yet. I'm sorry you're having a few pregnancy issues - but it will be all worth it when you get to hold that little girl in your arms. Its the most amazing thing I have ever experienced! If you are anything like me you'll be flooded with emotions! I'm so excited for you!! Good luck with everything - I'm sure Ryan will keep me posted!

  14. Okay, so I am friends with Emily Clason, and I have to say I love your blog and all the cute things you do and make!

Precclampsia is nothing to fool around with. I have had it twice and our second child it hit early - 24 weeks - so I was put on bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy and lucky for us she came at 36 almost 37 weeks!

Good luck with the induction and having a girl - we have two and they are just so fun!
