My friend Kate recently posted a blog about a movie she really liked, and it got me thinking that I would love to hear about other
movies that anyone has seen and really liked. We seem to watch a LOT of movies and I feel like we have seen EVERYTHING...so if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Also I am always looking for a good
book, so I'd love to hear about those too. Happy Monday
oh geez! we're like just getting around to watching the movies you can rent at the grocery store i.e. the old ones. last weekend we watched "Pursuit of Happyness" and the "Bourne Supremacy." I liked both, but wouldn't give either a very hearty recommendation (thought the Pursuit of Happyness was thought provoking and inspiring.) I'm probably going to burn in the hot place for having watched this and now for recommending it (shame!) but I love "When Harry Met Sally." If you haven't seen it in a while, you should. The dialog is brilliant. It's just a good one. My mom really liked "Who Killed the Electric Car" and "What the Lord Made." (???)
ReplyDeleteAnd books. oh books! i can't even remember the last book i read in its entirety. I'm really into magazines, essays, the comics--things that i can pick up and quickly put down when I hear the shatter of a glass object, or the splash of the toilet water that means my unsupervised child's up to no good. hope your other readers have better suggestions.
First of all, I died reading your post about '80s sitcom themesongs! "Show me that smile..." Yeah, I was in love with Kirk Cameron. Did you know he stars in all the Left Behind movies now? Do you know what that series is? I'll fill you in, if not... And p.s. who didn't have a crush on scott baio?? :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I left a comment on Kate's blog about the movie "Shine." Have you seen it? YOU MUST! What else? You've probly seen way more new ones than we, but I can recommend a bunch of awesome foreign gems we've seen lately. Well now I feel equally inspired. Mayble I'll make a little movie post myself. :) love you dear
I have been racking my brain for a couple days trying to think of any good movies that you probably haven't seen...and I can't think of any! Em, I do love "When Harry Met Sally." A good one!
ReplyDeleteDanielle, if you don't mind a rated R movie once in a while, check out Idiocracy. Very very funny. It's a pretty tame rated R movie, I am very picky about which ones I will watch. Landon insisted that I watch it with him. It's a Luke Wilson comedy and I don't think it made it in the theaters. If you watch it, let me know what you think.
ReplyDeleteIt's Anne's sister, lurking on her friends' blogs again -- one of these days I'm going to get a life, I promise. But who could resist something called Sparkle? Your post inspired me, so I've posted a bunch of movie recommendations on my blog. Do check it out :) Also, on the TV themesong post, I love the Mary Tyler Moore show song. I wish I could get someone to sing it to me when I'm having a bad day.
ReplyDeleteDanielle, I loved Amalie as well! The thing I love about foreign movies is that they are so different from American movies. I didn't know it was rated R though...oops. ;)
