Record highs...but I can't tell

The best thing happened this morning.

I walked out into the air, and there it was...

FALL

Something in the air has changed. It was brisk, and the light was different. It may be hot still yet this August, but there is no doubt...It's coming.

I love Fall. It is by far my favorite time of year. That still sunny but with a slight undercurrent of a chill creeping up. The energy, the light, the smell...all of these things make me feel energetic and excited. I love back to school, and sweaters, and earth tones, and Halloween and anything apple. Fall makes me think of Gilmore Girls (I know...I don't want to talk about it), and squash and cinnamon and after a long fun busy summer...coming home and settling in. It's snuggling on bleachers and new jeans (and boots, and jackets), and leaves in fiery lively colors, and roast in the crock-pot.

Plus...have you ever had your "colors" done...I have, and guess what? I'm an Autumn. So there you go! I love Fall...it goes with my skin.

What do you love about Fall?

  1. I love every darn thing about fall -- the leaves, the crispness in the air, the smell of Pink Pet erasers and wide ruled paper, and the color orange! This is making me giddy! Only sad thing is that at my house we'll have to wait at least 2 more months for that first sweet-as-molasses sensory glimpse of Autumn.

    (sigh!) It's worth the wait.

  2. mmm... I love fall too! And I am even more excited this year, because after 6 years away, I am going to be in the East for fall! Oh the trees all in splendid color! There is nothing else like it-- I can't wait!!!

  3. I have never appreciated fall as much as I do reading your post! It got me really excited! I love the smell and the feel of it all too! I love shopping for new jeans and jackets, and this fall is going to be extra sweet because I'll be done being a fatty in a month, and will finally be able to wear my favorite comfy jeans again!! Yay!! I love sweatshirts, getting my kids ready for Halloween, making stew, and cuddling up on the couch to watch a good movie (okay, I do that no matter what season). Yipee for fall!

  4. I have a love hate relationship with fall. I never liked school much so I guess that is mostly why. But I love new school clothes, and the changing of the leaves. Sadly, we don't have much of a weather change here is So. Cal. But that's okay, summer is my favorite season anyway. p.s. I am a spring!

  6. I couldn't tell what season I am...but I love, love, love fall! And as it turns out up here in Rexburg, it's turning fall and it's half way through August...so if you want some great fall, crisp air just come on up. I hoping that since it's starting so soon, we will have a long fall before the cold winter sets in! Of course this will be my favorite fall because of the special treat we get in Oct!!!!

  7. I'm on the fall-loving bandwagon too. I really miss my Ohio fall color, but will settle for some crisp air and sending my boys off to school, which is hectic, but so much fun. When you said your "colors" indicate you are a fall, it made me think of your beautiful mom, who must be the falliest fall ever -- you're lucky to have inherited her looks and her spunk.

  8. Kate I have been thinking about it and I think you might be a winter or a fall. The only way to really tell is to get "draped", which may impossible seeing as it is no longer 1986. Ok. I think all the Hall women are springs. Heidi...I am not sure maybe spring too. Katrina is a spring or fall--mmm...more fall I think, and Emily is a summer, Vanessa is a summer and Katie is a spring I think.

  11. I read your post in the morning and then when I went out during the day, I actually saw some colors have already changed on our trees. Nova Scotia is a beautiful part of the world and especially splendid in the Fall!
