fyi

We are actually not crazy and stupid, and have decided not to go to San Diego today. So much for our free vacation. We are just glad that our (however small and slightly smelly) apartment is safe and sound here in good old Salt Lake. Have you been watching CNN? It's CRAZY!!!

Also, we got to hear our baby's heartbeat yesterday--which I am sure is exciting to nobody but us. But since I write the blog, you have to hear about it. It was very exciting and makes this whole thing seem more real. It was 160 beats per minute, which is normal. And strangely, since it is the only little thing that I know about our baby (well that and the fact that he/she is trying to kill me with nausea), I carry it around with me in my head all day...160 bpm, 160bpm, 160 bpm...he/she has a heart and it is working...there is ACTUALLY a baby in there...wow.

and even though this is a super lame way to say thank you....i-ll do it anyway, I loved my baby shower! it was so fun for me! but i-ll call you soon so we can chat...just as soon as i don-t think i will fall asleep on the phone! and this typing one-handed thing (cause Charlie needed some love) makes it hard to leave comments!

  4. It does make it real. I loved hearing that every time I went in. Never gets old! San Diego is up in flames and nasty! At least it won't be crowded!

  5. nate and i both got a little misty when we first heard Henry's
heartbeat -- we're so schmoltzey, I swear! And I'm glad you're safe and sound, too. This world without Danielle in it just sounds like more than my little heart could bear. Love you. Thanks for calling the other day. You're the greatest.

  9. I still remember the first heartbeat I heard when I was pregnant with Andrew. It was such a shock because I really didn't know I was as pregnant as I was. We had no idea when we conceived and that sound was living proof that I had a baby growing in me. TOOO COOL! Congrats again.

  10. For me the heartbeat was the most exciting part of Anne's pregnancy. I think that especially for men, it is the first time we truly experience the reality of the whole thing. The other really cool moment is getting to feel the little critter move for the first time.
