cokesuber

It all started with the super bowl.

I have been off caffeine for awhile (pregnant+breastfeeding), but I have slowly started drinking it, a sip here and there. And then Sunday, I had 2 diet Cokes! And so naturally I couldn't sleep that night! So I lay in bed and dreamed about all the things I would do if I had a house of my own.

And so Monday morning, I woke up bright and early (with Avery's help) and pulled back the furniture in my bedroom and started painting.

Photobucket

Because this is what the wall looked like before, and I hate it. I have been looking at it for a year thinking that we would move soon, and since we are renting I shouldn't get too carried away with painting.

But I just couldn't look at it one second longer.

And so I painted it using the leftover paint from my office, since I have forbid myself from spending more money on this house we are renting.

And I felt sort of productive.

Which is a skill I have-- doing things that make me feel productive without actually doing something productive... you know--like looking for a house.

  1. Oh, I do love that color! WAY WAY better then that nasty green. I knew deep down it would break you. And you make me laugh. Being productive without being productive... ha ha! Maybe you should drink coke more often.

And when your daydreaming about your someday house just know most of are doing the same thing. (Hence all the pictures I've taken screen shots of and have stored in various places on my hard drive! Glad to know I'm not the only one!) Thanks for coming over today. It was fun to talk.

  2. that first picture is your room? really?

i seriously thought it was a magazine clip you were storing in your "someday" file. i love it!

maybe if i had more you (and more coke) in my life I could get motivated to tackle another home improvement project (?)

    you're great.

  3. At least you didn't blow anything up. Just imagine if you were "expressosuber"; you'd have torn out the walls and built a spa. I can't wait to see you. XO

  4. Well I adore that color so I say it was definitely productive. Also, I totally drank diet coke on a regular basis while pregnant--it helped with my heartburn. (weird I know) And I drink it occasionally now too. I love diet coke with lime. yum! I want some right now.

  5. Looks fabulous. Is that really PB Kids? It feels so grown up. You up for a brisk jaunt this week? Wednesday is (unfortunately) the only day that really works for me...

  6. It looks great! I love your sense of color. Color changes everything.

  7. Looks very crisp and delicate. I love how the bed skirt embroidery and the picture tie in together. Looks like you Bellie Boo.OX, Mom

  8. No Al...its not Pottery Barn kids...it's actually from a Martha Stewart paint chip sample that I had color matched at walmart.

And dad...I'm pretty sure if it weren't for you, nobody would ever get my random title references. I really am your spawn.

  9. I liked that they used the actual MacGyver guy (Richard Anderson) in the McGruber/Pepsuber commercial. Daddy always understands you. :)

  10. Well I join your dad in the ranks of people who got your title reference. Of course, Taylor, the guy who doesn't give a rats about football but is Mr. Marketing, and I watched superbowl commercials online Sunday night. Overall I thought that commercial was a little weak, but at the same time, totally rad!

Also, I so love that color. It's just about exactly the color I've been planning to do my bedroom, so I hope you don't feel copied. Or do feel copied, because I want to be you anyway.

    loves.

  11. Not only am I impressed with your decorating skills (I second Emily Anne's disbelief at picture #1 not being from a magazine--and you tried to tell me the rest of your house didn't look like one), but I'm also nerdily impressed by your correct use of "lay." Not that I'm grammar police (I probably would have written "laid" myself), but I do notice when someone uses correctly a principle that is hard for most of the college juniors and seniors I've taught to grasp.

  12. Also, knowing you, I have a feeling you made your headboard. Or if you didn't, that you know how to. And I really want to try that. Someday after my house is clean. Or maybe I should scratch that criteria since it's so far prevented me from doing pretty much any project I dream up.

  13. I love it - I also thought it was from a magazine! If you lived closer I would try to enlist your decorating help!

  14. So like everyone else, I totally thought that was a magazine picture. I thought "martha stewart? perhaps domino?" but no, it's just your fabulousness. Can you come make my room look like that? My husband has given in on the rest of the house, but he keeps insisting a) we don't need to repaint the forest-green walls, and b) he is too tall to be smashed into a bed bounded by a headboard and/or footboard. really, I love the man, but it drives me crazy! I've decided that if he doesn't give in by spring, he'll just be surprised when he comes home one day and the room is revamped, and then I can innocently chalk it up to the nesting instinct and pregnancy hormones. oh, i wish we still lived in Provo, and then I could know you in real life and bounce design ideas off your creative mind!
