Ollie and I started this month off by catching the flu. And I'm not talking about a 24 stomach flu. I'm talking about a solid 2 week, knock down drag out, lay in your bed sweating for three days, cough so hard your stomach muscles get sore, so weak you can barely walk, lungs so congested you also get pneumonia, actual influenza. It was bad.
And we had even gotten a flu shot! Magically Avery was spared, we think because she got the live virus flu mist instead of the shot. And thankfully my good friend Alissa stepped in and helped us out so so much! And Trav did catch it too, but after us and since we had a positive test for flu, he got Tamiflu, which made his much more mild. Whew.
Anyway, missing out on two weeks of life put me pretty far behind on my Christmas to do list! But you know what? I'm zen about it. In my 32 years of life I've learned to let go of lists that don't matter. Finally.
So we are sending New Years cards instead, choosing some but not all activities, buying and sending fewer gifts, and trying to just have a happy and meaningful holiday.
I feel so grateful to have my little family happy and safe at home. So grateful.
I hope this Holiday season finds you safe and with the ones you love as well!
