Memory game

First of all, if you happened to visit my blog yesterday, and got all jammed up with the post that I tried to cut and paste from Kate...SORRY!!! I hope you don't hate me too much. If you have no idea what I am talking about, then never mind. I don't know what happened exactly. All I know is that I am going to have to blog about freezer jam by myself now and there is a good chance it will never get done.

Second, this looked fun:

Everyone needs to play...This is Fun!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember--it can be funny, weird, awkward, random, etc.!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

  1. My first memory of you was Trav's introduction of you to me via email. I so wish I would have kept it. It said something like, "Al, I like her and think she actually might be possibly the one." It was classic. You could tell he was crazy about you, but still had a little bit of Trav in him and wasn't going to go all out until it was for sure. Now we know you are the best thing ever to happen to him and he was lucky to hook you!

  2. I remember Travis wanting to bring you home for Thanksgiving to meet us, and Marc and I knew something was up. We were someplace when the two of you got to our house, I don't remember where, but you and Trav were standing in the downstairs hall when we came in. Trav introduced you to us, and then we talked for about a minute and since it was late you went up to the guest room to go to bed. You weren't feeling good, and ended up throwing up that night.

Anyway, after that one minute conversation Marc and I also went up to bed. While we were getting ready for bed of course we were talking about you. The conversation went something like, "I know we didn't get to visit very long, but what do you think, do you like her?" "I absolutely love her." "Yea, me too" "I bet she's the one." "I wouldn't be surprised - shes wonderful"

I guess you could say it was love at first sight for us.

Another thing I will always remember is coming into our living room about a half hour before your Woodinville wedding reception started, and there you were, in your beautiful wedding dress sitting on the floor with all the little girl cousins from our family. They were sitting on the edge of your gown, and I think they had Barbies or something, but mostly they were all adoring you. The were looking at your veil and your dress with star-y eyes. You were letting them touch you and feel your dress. All those little fingers. You didn't seem concerned at all that your dress was getting sat on, or that the little hands might have who knows what on them. I was very impressed by your ability to put the feelings of those little girls before vanity. It was just so unselfish. Marc came up behind me and whispered in my ear that "wasn't that a beautiful sight, and isn't she going to make a wonderful Mom."

He was right, you have made a wonderful Mom. And a wonderful wife. And a wonderful daughter in law.

And just to preserve your dignity, I am not going to mention the memory of you going bowling with our family wearing your skin tight, hot pink and electric blue ski racing outfit. THAT story I'll just keep under my hat!

  3. I remember you trying to teach me to drive a stick shift in your red truck, that must have been 10 or 11 years ago.

  4. This is so fun! I loved the memories Colleen shared -- they're so lucky to have you in their family.
I remember when we went to the Tim McGraw concert together in Portlant -- I hardly knew you at that point, but I think that's my first memory of something that we actually did together. I remember you LOVED Urban Outfitters and I thought it was the most confused, outrageous place on earth. I think you bought a red dress there.
I remember you turning your Lib Square dorm room into a chic little gem of a spot--draping fabric over the dingy walls and hanging a paper globe lantern above your bed.
I remember you going ALL OUT and making really fabulous dinners on your dinner night, too.
I remember lingerie shopping with you at VS before our weddings (blush!) -- and how we blamed all our cottage cheese and unsightly spots on the "horrible lighting" in that place :) haha. I think we both left with some full coverage pajama bottoms or full-length satin robes or something.

Mostly I just remember that I love all my memories of you. Really. Wish we could make more.

  5. First of all, thanks again for the videos and photos of Avery; they make me feel connected despite not being able to fly down more.
I have too many memories to count, obviously, but here's a favorite.
You were 10 or 12. We were driving down Lone Pine road. We pulled up behind a beater with a bumper sticker that said "Sh-- Happens". You gave me a sly smile and said " oh well; you never get a second chance to make a first impression!"

  6. I remember coming to stay at your house when you guys still lived in Iowa. I thought your house was really cool because you had a laundry chute (kids are impressed by random things). And I remember you had the Beach Boys "Kokomo" tape and so I always kind of associated that song (loosely) with you.
And I remember when you came to girls camp with me, which was a lot of fun.

  7. Remember when you set me up with Mark on a blind date, except it wasn't really a blind date, and I didn't want to go, but you made me. Thanks! Then you made him a cake for his birthday a week later, and totally gave me credit for helping you when I totally didn't, and we took it over there and there were two other cakes that other chicks had brought over for him. And I was kind of embarrassed. It's like you knew I should date Mark even thought I wasn't so sure I was feeling it. I'm sure happy now you introduced us all those years ago!

And remember when we came to visit you in Omaha, and I thought you were the most amazing host ever. Duh. Of course you are. You had a little gift basket on my bed full or goodies, a framed picture of Mark and I and a bed for each of us all made up (since we're high maintenance and can't sleep close to each other). It was so cozy and I loved it. Then we went to Coldplay and ran around town showing us your stomping ground, and it was FREEZING!! I remember thinking... "wow, it is bad here. I can't believe Danielle has lived here." I remember thinking you were such a trooper. That was such a fun trip!

And remember when you gave me one of my progesterone (or was it HCG? I can't be sure... I only know it made me c-r-a-z-y!) shots in my bum one day because Mark wasn't home and I was too afraid to do it myself. Remember we were just going to meet somewhere random like the side of the road to do it... can you imagine! My left bum cheek sticking out for all the people to see, and you sticking me with a needle! But you wouldn't do it, so you drove all the way to my house. You are a really good shot giver. I didn't feel a thing!! What a true friend you are.

  9. I remember meeting you for the first time and you wore these rockin brown boots and I remember thinking, I bet she is one of those utah girls that is too cool for everyone else, then we started talking and I loved you! You were so much fun and i thought, I should have known anyone with boots like that would have to be awesome!

  10. I love the Memory Game! A memory I have of you is the day you moved in. Ryan called me and told me to come outside and meet you. I was so excited to have you as a neighbor because I love Ryan so much!

  11. So, I remember being pregnant at the same time as you and having a baby the day after you--all blog memories, of course :).

I work at a place called CultureGrams. They're educational guides on every country in the world. I update them and process multimedia for our website. I'm officially an editor. It's nice though since I can work at home. I can't imagine having to leave Zoe at this point! And she still sleeps enough that I can just work when she's asleep (though I'm not able to sleep in any more . . . oh well).

  12. Gosh, I really can't recall a specific memory I have with you just a bunch of jumbled girls camp stuff. I do remember thinking that you were so super fashionable though and when capris were first comming out I thought they were kind of ugly until I saw you wearing them.

  13. Ha, Ha, I just got done reading Kate's memory. Did you really give her a shot in her bumb? That's a pretty good friend I'd say...I think I would have fainted giving someone a shot.

Anyway, I remember you, I, and I think Kate sitting out on the driveway of our little house tanning in our swimsuits. We must have looked pretty funny. I remember always wanting to borrow your clothes, but being too shy to ask. I remember getting kicked out of 2 byu housing pools with you because I was wearing a 2 piece swimsuit. We were such rebels!

  14. I remember the first time I meet you. I walked into Trav's apartment and there you were nestled on his couch between Mark and Seth. You had just got back from houseboating with your family. You had a gorgeous tan and looked so cool as you completely captured the attention of all the boys in his apartment.
I remember Trav invited me to come to dinner with him at your house. You made something kind of fancy and I was impressed with your skills. You were also very nice to me.
And I also remember you throwing up at our house over Thanksgiving. However, I didn't really care. Any girl that can handle that type of situation with grace and still manage to not appear too embarrassed must be pretty special. You're awesome Danielle! So glad you're part of the family.

  15. Hmmm... I remember our theatre make-up class together. And our camping class. With Bryce :) We had lots of classes together but I remember those as being the most fun!

  16. I remember picking blackberries with you at Grandpa Cox's house at the lake, the Sunday after Katie and Randy's wedding. We were laughing that we could only pick about half the berries, since we were two of the shortest people there (over 20) :) With Katie gone on her honeymoon, I was feeling pretty shy around all the Cox family - thanks for helping me feel part of the family! Danielle - you're awesome!!
